Plant Curator is not really sure what is going on here, it’s all a bit weird but then kind of wonderful. French photographer Erwan Fichou combines topiary with people and elevation and makes elevated topiary people. Apparently, they are not photoshoped in, but are all really up there. He worked with gardeners in Mexico to freshly prune the trees and then invited people off the street to climb them, before finally taking the picture. The fact that the trees have just been shorn adds to the magic. Fichou enables the participants (quite literally) and us to gain another perspective on plants. The images are part of a series of photographs he aptly named Miradors. For the full set see his website.
Topiary goes viral its official! My best topiary moment was walking down the road and coming across an older couple working on the topiary in their garden. He high up the ladder trimming away, while she held the ladder below, with a cloth draped over her head to reflect the clippings as they fell! The image spoke of long-held traditions and partnership through topiary!
