Plant Curator has been scouring the web for plant cartoons and cartoonist with only a modicum of success. Why the dearth? As Berger and Wyse have shown, there is so much humour to be had with plants. However, theirs tend to be focused on produce (i.e. fruit and vegetables) and we want plant plant cartoons. What are plant plants? Whole plants, wild plants, botanists with plants, plant taxonomists, plant name jokes, plant ecology, herbal uses – that kind of thing. Gardening cartoons are OK too, and there seem to be more of these around, but the ones we have seen are not too exciting, which is a subjective statement of course, but we’re making it. If you are a cartoonist with plant content, please submit your cartoons to us, and if we like them we will feature them with a link to your portfolio. It doesn’t have to be in a traditional cartoon format either, anything plant related (eg see David Shrigley) that has humour, satire or quirk is good.
