Peter Lippmann appears to be a photographer who would greatly enjoy focusing on shooting plants full-time. His personal portfolio has collections of rotting fruit, flowers in jars and assorted cacti. In his commercial work he takes haute couture photographs of expensive shoes, handbags and jewellery, yet even for these assignments he manages to slip in the odd botanical theme. His recent work for Christian Louboutin did just that, using still-life flower portraits, that paid homage to past masters, to elevate designer wares.
Cacti are stunningly architectural with their succulent shapes, ridges, spines and areoles, but as is often the case with many plants, not everyone looks so close-up to see just how wonderful the form and detail of these desert living plants are. Lippmann produces polished plant art, making it impossible not to indulge in a spot of morphological awe. See his website for more.
