Plant shapes to colour-in

February 12, 2015|Art & Design, Books

A garden can help with relaxation and inner peace, but if you don’t have a garden to hand, or the garden you do have is too cold and wet right now, then a good alternative is a garden to colour-in. The book Secret Garden by Johanna Basford has sold over a million copies worldwide and it’s not hard to understand why; full of beautifully hand-crafted, black and white, plant-inspired inked shapes that are just crying out for colour. Filling-in one space after another, bringing life to plants, is a simple and welcome antidote to the stresses of modern day life for anyone; but for children, it can also bring extended focus on the beauty of nature’s forms, one that may help create lasting connection.

To celebrate her new colouring book Enchanted Forest and Valentine’s Day, Johanna has provided a free plant inspired, heart-shaped design to download, print off and colour-in (see below). For information about the artist and to see more botanical designs please visit her website.
